Impulse by Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's

I finally got a chance to head over to Macy's the other day to check out the highly anticipated line, Impulse, designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Honestly I wasn't even sure if the Macy's here in Guam would get the collection, but luckily they did!
I decided not to look online before I went to the store because I wanted to see the clothes in person first. These are the pieces that caught my eye right away. The first six pieces I love, the last was a dud. Keep in mind that these are the pieces that I actually got to see in real life. I later learned when I looked at the Macy's website that there are 45 pieces in the collection, and the Macy's here only had about half.

I instantly gravitated towards the graphic tees. I'm pretty sure everyone else will too and I can imagine these selling out quickly. They are priced at $49 which would normally be way above my preferred price range for a t-shirt, but I'm seriously considering going back to buy one of these.

This dress is exactly the type of clothing I was imagining to see in this collection; very "Chanel" looking. I love the turtle neck and my favorite part is that the white collar is detachable, so you're almost getting two dresses for the price of one!

I really love the high-waisted faux leather and tweed shorts. I'm pretty sure these will fly off the racks as well.

This tweed dress caught my eye right away and would be so cute for Fall. It's really heavy and thick though so I could never wear this in Guam unless I wanted to sweat to death.

I've gotta mention what I didn't like too, right? That would be this dress. From far away the color caught my attention and I thought it was cute. But when I got up close I realized it is made out of polyester and spandex which I personally hate. It is thin and flimsy and feels really cheap. This dress gets a thumbs down from me!

Have any of you gone out to purchase anything from this collection? I'd love to hear your thoughts on your favorite and least favorite pieces!

Lovely products from Japan

My mom went on a business trip last week to Okinawa, Japan and needless to say I was a tad bit jealous. I grew up there so I was bummed that I didn't get to go too. She had a good time though and I'm happy for her. Plus it's not like I won't get to visit eventually. Luckily she brought me presents! :)

Aren't they cute? The one on the left is a pair of tweezers and the one on the right is a nail file. I love them! She bought them from one of my favorite stores in Okinawa called ETWS. My mom loves me and knows me so well. :)

Fall 2011 Nail Polish Trends

Summer has already come to an end and I must say it flew by. After a bit traveling and a spur of the moment move from California to Guam, life is finally settling down for me. After quite a long hiatus, I am back and here to stay. And what better way to transition into the Fall than to introduce you all to the trendiest Fall nail polish colors of 2011?

Army Green: This shade of green is a great color to try this Fall. I prefer the creamy shades but metallic and iridescent shades can be found as well.

Copper: This orange rust color is perfect for Fall. It reminds me of the color of falling leaves.

Teal: I am in love with this jewel-toned teal. No Fall outfit could possibly be bland with a pop of this beautiful shade.

Mauve: Rather than the lavenders that we saw last season, Fall will be all about mauve when it comes to purple.

Burgundy: This deep wine shade will take any outfit's sophistication level up a notch. I prefer this iridescent shade to avoid looking dated.

Dark Brown: Dark brown is an alternative to black if you like wearing dark nail polish shades this time of year.

Slate: Gray has been around for the past few seasons and isn't going anywhere just yet. This Fall try out this darker version of the color.

Sapphire Blue: This deep ocean blue is another alternative to black if you like dark colored polishes in the Fall.

Feather Hair Extensions

Vissa Studios
One of my favorite rising trends at the moment are feather hair extensions. I first started noticing them in fashion blogs and when I found out my hair stylist had some available, I really wanted to try them out. I ended up getting two thin black and white feathers that contrasted nicely against my brown hair. Lately I have been noticing other girls trying them out and I think they are super cute! I've seen everything from rocker chicks with neon pink feathers to boho girls with brown, natural looking feathers.

Glimmer and Shimmer
The great thing about feather extensions is that they are like temporary highlights. You can get any color, thickness, or length and they won't damage your hair like dye would. You can leave them in for one day or for about a month depending on your preference and how well you take care of them. They can be brushed (just be careful not to brush the metal piece at the top holding it in), blow-dried, straightened, and curled which is great because you can style them along with the rest of your hair. If you want, you can even apply them yourself if you order your own feathers and the proper tools. This way, you can avoid paying high salon prices.

Hope you like them as much as I do!

Look for Less: Quilted Chanel Handbag

Photos from JustJared & Stacy Hinojosa
Lately celebs have been spotted all over Hollywood rocking the Chanel 2.55 handbag. I personally love this handbag because of it's glamorous yet classic look. However, as I've said before, I'm just an average college girl on a tight budget and could never afford the real thing. While I don't condone purchasing knock-off designer products, there are plenty of cute alternatives to this bag that don't have a fake Chanel logo on them. Here are some cute handbags that give you the same look, all for under $90.00!

Overstock.com

This patent leather bag is available at Overstock.com. It also comes in red and white and costs $60.99. I really love the glossy look of this bag!

Csnstores.com

This bag by Murval from csnstores.com comes in black denim and only costs $36.99. The denim look gives it a little more of a casual look.

Ebags.com

This handbag from ebags.com is by BCBGeneration and costs $86.40. It also comes in bronze. This bag is a bit larger which is nice if you have lots of stuff!

Amiclubwear.com

If basic black isn't your thing, this faux crinkle leather bag comes in red, camel, blue, and gray at amiclubwear.com. It costs $35.99.

Make sure to check out the websites listed above if you are interested in any of the handbags I've shown you today.

3 reasons why Toms are awesome

Toms
A couple months ago I invested in my first pair of Toms shoes. I had seen girls on my college campus wearing them and quickly grew to like them. I chose the Ash (gray) Canvas Women's Classics since they are a neutral color and I knew they would match with most of my wardrobe. Ever since my purchase, I have been obsessed! Read on to find out why Toms are awesome!

1. Toms are for a great cause!

The number one reason why Toms are awesome is because they are for a super good cause called One for One. For every pair of Toms shoes that is purchased, one pair is donated to a child in need of shoes. According to the Toms website, one of the leading causes of diseases in developing countries is soil-transmitted diseases. By providing children with shoes, Toms helps prevent cuts and sores which can become infected. Having shoes also allows more children to attend school, since many are not allowed if they do not have shoes. As if the Toms movement isn't awesome enough, Toms also holds a worldwide event called One Day Without Shoes. On this day, people go without shoes for a whole day going about their usual daily activities in order to raise awareness of the One for One movement.

2. Toms are super comfortable!

The second reason why Toms are awesome is because they are really, really comfortable! No lie, I have hardly worn any other pair of shoes since my beloved Toms arrived in the mail. When you first try them on they are a bit tight, but once you wear them for a day or two they stretch out to perfectly fit your foot. The soles of the shoes are really squishy and keep my feet happy all day long.

3. Toms match with everything!

The third reason Toms are awesome is because they are super versatile and can be worn with practically everything you own. I have seen Toms worn with jeans, shorts, capris, boyfriend jeans, dresses, skirts, you name it. There are plain colored Toms for a classic look, sparkly Toms for those craving a more flashy look, corduroy Toms for a preppy look, patterned Toms for the adventurous and creative types and even a wedding collection for an elegant look! Basically, you can't go wrong with Toms.

Spring 2011 Nail Polish Trends

As a college student, I am usually on a pretty tight budget when it comes shopping money, because let's face it, paying for rent, bills and food is a little more important (whether I'd like to admit it or not). As a self-proclaimed fashion addict, I would obviously like to splurge every month on the latest clothes, shoes and accessories but unfortunately this just isn't a reality for me. This is where nail polish comes in. Lately I have rediscovered my love for nail polish (I used to collect them as a little girl) and have realized that nail polish is a totally affordable accessory. Maybe you're bored of that little black dress that you wear every season, but if you try painting your nails this season's "it" colors, you can instantly update your look! Here are a few of my favorite nail polish colors for Spring 2011.

Greige

"Greige" (a cross between gray and beige) has been "in" since last fall but is still being spotted everywhere this spring. I personally love this taupe-y color because it acts as a neutral and goes with just about any outfit. And sometimes when I think it looks a little boring, I layer a really chunky, glittery clear nail polish over it. It turns out really cool!

Sky Blue

Sky blue totally reminds me of spring. It makes me think of sunny skies, flowers, and Easter. It works well with most outfits and is a great alternative to the typical pinks and oranges you usually see during spring.

Lavender

I have been loving the different shades of lavender that I've been seeing. It's such a pretty color that I think often gets ignored when it comes to clothes and shoes because no one really wants to look like Barney the dinosaur. However, as a nail color it's subtle and adds a nice splash of an unexpected color to an outfit.

Nude

Nude goes with literally everything, but it is easy to end up looking like a mannequin so make sure it is very glossy. Sometimes if it matches my skin too much to the point where it looks like I have no nails, I'll add a coat of light, shimmery glitter nail polish over the top to add more shine.

Peach
Peachy pinks are pretty similar to nudes in that they are neutral and match most outfits. And again, I think they look better when they're very glossy. It is a great alternative to regular old pink.

Gray

Gray nail polish has also been "in" for a while and has carried over from fall. It is a great alternative to black, which has been popular for the past few years. It is probably one of my favorite colors to wear. Plus, it adds a little edge.
